NE 130th Ave - Overview

Update - June 2024

Construction will begin in July to install safety improvements along Northeast 130th Avenue between Northeast 76th Street and Northeast Padden Parkway. A marked crosswalk with lighting and a flashing beacon will be installed at the intersection of Northeast 130th Avenue and the Padden Parkway multiuse trail. Other improvements include upgrades to the school zone crosswalk at Heritage High School, new school zone flashers, upgrades to bike lane markings and more. Travelers in the area can expect occasional lane closures, traffic impacts and delays. Access to local businesses will remain open. 

Project Details

Safety improvements are coming to Northeast 130th Avenue between Northeast 76th Street and Padden Parkway.  Public Works will install improvements including a marked crosswalk with lighting and a flashing beacon at the intersection of Northeast 130th Avenue and the Padden Parkway multi-use trail; upgrading the crosswalk in the school zone at Heritage High School and installing new school zone flashers; rebuilding sidewalk curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements; installing ADA-compliant crosswalk buttons; upgrading bike lane markings; and installing pedestrian, school zone and transit signage.

The project includes design, engineering, surveying, environmental documentation/permitting, storm drainage, right of way acquisition, and construction. All documents, engineering, plans and specifications will be completed in accordance with all applicable federal, state and county standards.

Funding

The total budget identified for the project is $525,000. The county received a grant from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (“TIB”) in the amount of $500,000 for project design and construction.

Schedule 

Design:             spring 2023 – fall 2024
Construction:    This project is expected to go to construction in the summer 2024.
