Public comments sought for county's Stormwater Management Plan

Vancouver, WA – Clark County’s Environmental Services Clean Water Division is seeking public comments on the annual update to its Stormwater Management Plan at next week’s Clean Water Commission meeting.

The meeting is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, in the sixth-floor Training Room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

“Public comments during these updates ensure we are addressing community needs and concerns,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director. “Public comments help guide the plan for the coming the year.”

People can review the Stormwater Management Plan at www.clark.wa.gov/environmental-services/clark-county-stormwater-management-plan.

Comments can be submitted via email to Cleanwater@clark.wa.gov.

The Stormwater Management Plan describes the various Clark County programs used meet requirements of the county’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) municipal stormwater permit, which includes:

  • Developing regulations
  • Maintaining an inventory of county stormwater facilities
  • Capital projects to treat stormwater pollutants
  • Stormwater facilities operation and maintenance
  • Identifying and removing pollutant discharges
  • Education and outreach

The Clean Water Commission, appointed by the Board of County Councilors, is a volunteer resident advisory group that reviews and advises the county on stormwater management programs.
