Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County Public Health is investigating a confirmed case of measles in a child 1 to 10 years old who is unvaccinated. The child returned to Clark County on Nov. 14 after travelling internationally to a country where a measles outbreak is occurring.

The child visited Portland International Airport and two area hospitals while contagious. People who visited the locations listed below may have been exposed to measles.

Vancouver, Wash. – The Fourth Plain Coalition was recently named one of 18 BUILD Health Challenge award recipients in the country.

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council is seeking applicants for a volunteer position on the Solid Waste Advisory Commission.

The position represents Clark County public interest groups. The three-year term begins immediately.

The commission advises the county council on solid waste issues, such as recycling, garbage collection, landfills, transfer stations and waste-reduction programs.

Camas, Wash. – Clark County Public Health has issued an advisory for Fallen Leaf Lake in Camas due to blooms of cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae.

Responding to a report of a blue-green algae bloom in Fallen Leaf Lake, Public Health staff visited the lake and confirmed the presence of blooms near the bank, extending north from the Fallen Leaf Lake Shelter.

Public Health is advising people to avoid direct contact with lake water in areas of floating blue-green-colored scum. Blue-green algae can produce toxins that are harmful to people and deadly for small pets… Read More

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County’s Master Composter Recycler program is offering a series of free composting and green cleaning workshops this fall.

Vancouver, Wash. – Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has confirmed two new cases of severe lung disease linked to vaping in Spokane County. The Spokane Regional Health District reported the new confirmed cases as a patient in their teens and a patient in their twenties.

There are now three confirmed cases in Washington. All three confirmed cases reported vaping prior to illness, but a specific product, device, or additive common to all three has not yet been identified. Investigations into these cases are ongoing.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County Public Health has downgraded its advisory at Vancouver Lake from warning to caution. Blooms of cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae, are still present at the lake, but results from recent water samples indicate low levels of toxins in the water.

The warning signs at the lake will be replaced with caution signs, which will remain in place as long as the blooms are present.
