Mt Vista Stormwater Facility

UPDATE - September 2023

The construction of the project is complete. The project location was seeded with grass and wetland plants in September 2023, and vegetation is expected to become established in the coming year. County staff will be on site regularly to monitor make adjustments when necessary. No further traffic impacts are anticipated.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Stormwater facilities reduce flooding and pollution of local water ways by capturing and treating rainwater runoff (stormwater) before it reaches streams, rivers, lakes, and ponds. The existing stormwater retention pond for the Mt. Vista neighborhood was constructed over 40 years ago. Growth of vegetation and collection of dirt and sediment has limited the facility’s capacity to capture and treat stormwater. This project will reconstruct the existing stormwater facility to meet current design standards and improve stormwater treatment and detention. The existing stormwater retention pond will be reconfigured into a stormwater treatment wetland with a naturalistic channel, designed to mimic natural wetlands to direct the flow of stormwater and utilize plants and grasses to filter pollutants more effectively.

SCHEDULE AND TRAFFIC
The project is currently scheduled for construction end of July 2023. The project is expected to cause minimal disruption to local traffic, though brief delays are possible. Please watch for flaggers and signage directing traffic around the construction area.
