Clark County transfer stations are seeing an influx of people dropping off garbage and yard debris – a result of nice weather and more time at home due to Gov. Inslee’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy order. The increase is creating potentially unsafe conditions for customers and staff, and leads to longer wait times as staff try to enforce social distancing guidelines. The guidelines call for people to stay at least 6 feet from others to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Clark County Public Health has issued advisories for Lacamas Lake and Round Lake in Camas due to a bloom of cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae. Public Health is advising people to avoid direct contact with all water in both lakes.

Public Health collected water samples from each lake; results are expected next week. Warning signs will be posted at entry points of the lakes today. The warning advisory will be re-evaluated once water sample results return. Another 28 people have tested positive for novel coronavirus, COVID-19, in Clark County, and a fifth person has died. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Clark County is now 48.

A fifth Clark County resident – a man in his 80s – has died from COVID-19. He was previously hospitalized and had no known contact with a confirmed case.

Public Health is still gathering information about the 28 new cases and has only limited details to share. Here are the age ranges of the new cases:

Vancouver, Wash. – Two people have tested positive for novel coronavirus, COVID-19, in Clark County. These new cases bring the total number of COVID-19 cases in Clark County to six.

A third Clark County COVID-19 patient died late Tuesday evening.

The patient – a man in his 70s – was the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Clark County. He did not have any recent travel or known contact with a confirmed case.

He had been hospitalized at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.

“It’s a tragedy that we’ve lost another member of our community to COVID-19,” said Dr. Alan Melnick, Clark County health officer and Public Health director. “We send our deepest condolences to his family.”

Two Clark County COVID-19 patients died Monday evening. These are the first deaths from COVID-19 in Clark County.

These patients were the husband and wife, both in their 80s, who were hospitalized at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center last week.

One patient was a resident at a small adult family home. All residents and staff at the adult family home are considered close contacts and have been quarantined.
