The board is accepting applications from Clark County residents for the following positions:

  • A doctor of veterinary medicine practicing in Clark County.
  • A Clark County consumer of public health services.
  • A representative from the Clark County Youth Commission or Clark County Youth House or a representative of local area high schools or colleges.

The child, who is up to date on immunizations, was exposed by an individual later confirmed to have measles in Multnomah County. Clark County Public Health is advising anyone who has been exposed and believes they have symptoms of measles to call their health care provider prior to visiting the medical office to make a plan that avoids exposing others in the waiting room.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County’s Master Composter/Recyclers will host an open house this weekend as part of the sixth annual Art in the Garden event.

The open house is 10 am to 4 pm Sunday, July 8, at the composting demonstration site at the Center for Agriculture Science and Environmental Education, CASEE, 11104 NE 149th St., Brush Prairie. The demonstration site is at the west end of the NatureScaping Wildlife Botanical Gardens.

Vancouver, Wash. ‒ Mosquito season has arrived, and the pesky insect population is higher than years past.

Clark County Mosquito Control District crews are finding a higher number of mosquitoes throughout the county this season than they have the last several years. Most recently, the area east of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge has been a mosquito hotspot.

Mosquito control district officials suspect the mild weather during the winter, followed by an unseasonably warm spring, provided ideal conditions for the mosquito population to increase dramatically.

Vancouver, Wash. – With fireworks sales beginning Thursday, June 28, Clark County reminds residents to comply with local and state laws and use fireworks safely and responsibly.

In unincorporated areas north of Northwest/Northeast 219th Street, fireworks can be used from noon to 11 pm June 28, 9 am to 11 pm June 29-July 3 and 9 am to midnight July 4. In unincorporated areas south of Northwest/Northeast of 219th Street, fireworks can be used from 9 am to midnight July 4.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County will host the 13th annual Recycled Arts Festival, presented this year by McCord’s Vancouver Toyota, in Esther Short Park later this month. The popular two-day event showcases artwork made of recycled materials.

The free festival runs 9 am to 5 pm Saturday, June 23, and 9 am to 4 pm, Sunday, June 24. Attendees who show their reusable mugs or water bottles at the information tent will be entered in a special drawing.

Series of free community workshops available to create costumes


Vancouver, Wash. – The Procession of the Species is returning to this year’s Recycled Arts Festival. The festival will host a series of free workshops to help participants get their costumes ready for the Sunday, June 24, parade.

The free event is open to people of all ages.

The procession, which originated in Olympia in 1995 and debuted in Clark County at last year’s festival, is a celebration of community and the natural world through art.
